Terrace Junction is a welcome stopover strategically located in the Rushaga Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Game Park. It is within reach of Rugubiri Trading Centre, and is positioned at an intersection referred to by the locals ‘Hakikona’, literally meaning ‘At theCorner”.
Whether you are staying in the area, or just going through, Terrace Junction is a welcome
stopover in the heart of Rushaga to help you get your kicks on. Its artsy vibe makes it a greatstarting and ending point for visitors in the area.
Framing the backdrop of Terrace Junction to the south is a picturesque view of the three
peaks of Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabinyo The three dormant volcanoes form a chain that
spans the Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo borders. On a clear day, the
ranges are clearly visible and are a captivating sight to behold. On days when the mountains
aren’t out, the Terrace Junction courtyard, has living views that will make you forget your
travel fatigue.
To the west of Terrace Junction is a view of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the
Mountain Gorillas, whose green canopy presents a breathtaking sight. The surrounding
valleys and hills form an undulating beautiful terrain with sweeping views of diverse scenery that make for a worthy detour to start the day, chill out or unwind.
Heading out for Gorilla tracking? Do not miss the incredibly scenic view as clouds of mist
roll through the beautiful valley coupled with crispy fresh air as you watch the sunrise and sip on our freshly brewed coffee, an invigorating precursor to your trek on the gorilla trails.
Evenings at Terrace Junction are glorious thanks to nature’s golden and ruby toned hues of
sunset from our wooden terrace. Chill out, enjoy a drink and watch the different species of
birds that inhabit the area.
Most clichés are true and Terrace Junction resonates with, “Stop and Smell the Roses”. It is a great place to pull over, grab a drink, use the restroom, load up on souvenirs and if nothing else just stretch your legs. But definitely do stop over and take a moment to explore.
